Hey look, it's a water-damaged ceiling

Costs are rising for the upkeep of my house and my vehicle.

Today I worked hard and looked into a database deadlock condition for my employer. I work as a testing engineer and figure out how to make things break in the development environment so that they don't break in the production environment.

I'm getting closer to having a clean house. I'm really looking forward to feeling at home again. I can already start to feel it after all this cleaning.

Hey look, it's a boring ceiling

You ever have one of those days where you can think of stuff that you want to get done but you've had such a busy week that you're just not really feeling it? Cuz that's what today was for me.

Like, sometimes you just open YouTube and skip from video to video and just put it on in the background while you try to clean the Crock-Pot — because even though you soaked it for 12 hours, you still can't get the crusty remains of your failed attempt at making chili out of it until you find the Brillo pad that somehow made it to the back of the cupboard under the sink.

I really enjoyed getting to spend time with my family recently though, my dad is off on a scientific research mission in the far reaches of Alaska, my sister is off in her new house with her husband and my brother's doing some secret work with drones for the Air Force.

That leaves my mom and I, she's stressed out about having to do a large amount of yard work at her house, I still haven't gotten over the fact that somebody stole my robot mower that I saved up for ages for over at mine (I've been using an old push mower because I don't want to have my yard look bad), so we've been seeing a lot more of each other lately.

If you're reading this and you're expecting a reply to an email from me, just hang tight, I'll have it to you soon, stuff's just been rough over this past weekend and I'm just about done with it.

Well, that's all from me for now. I've been having trouble figuring out what to write in my blog lately so maybe a better solution is just turning on speech to text and just rambling while I lay down on the floor looking up at the ceiling.

Happy trails!

4th of July: Commence house cleaning!

It's a holiday in the US. But I spent most of the day organizing and cleaning and stuff. My mom came over and helped me with it since I'd gotten a bit behind. I love her so much 💗

I got these velcro cable ties from Amazon and honestly, I don't understand how I even functioned without them. They've made my rat's nest of cabling into something minimal and beautiful ❤️

I'm really looking forward to having a clean house again. It's hard to function without it, but sometimes I get really down and have a hard time maintaining it. It's hard living all alone.

Helped my mom out today

Sometimes I have such a long day that it's difficult to write a blog post

I helped my mom all day with fixing up our cottage :)

I fixed up the stairs to the deck and also called the power company because the electricity wasn't working correctly. If you turned on the leaf blower the kitchen light would get brighter but if you moved it to another outlet it would completely dim out. They fixed it up!

I wonder if I won't earn Hatena Blog citizenship if I don't post every day? Sometimes I have to backdate my posts

Finally got the touch pressure calibration working

function pressureSizeCalc(force) {

    let minDrawSize = 1;

    if (force === 0) return minDrawSize;

    let deltaX = this.maxTouchForce - this.minTouchForce;

    let deltaY = this.maxDrawSize - minDrawSize;

    let slope = deltaY / deltaX;

    let intercept = minDrawSize - (slope * this.minTouchForce);

    let result = (slope * force) + intercept;

return Math.min(this.maxDrawSize, Math.max(minDrawSize, result));

}

I had to figure out how to calculate the factors in the slope-intercept equation (had to blow the dust off my math a bit) to figure out which line passes through both the lowest pressure (and thus, lowest stroke width) and the highest touch pressure (coupled with the user-specified maximum stroke width).

Dinner

I had tomato soup :)

Oops, all sourcemaps!

Reverse engineering

Yeah, it's a pretty badly done Twitter clone by some ex-trump administration person. whoops, they left sourcemaps on. all your source is belong to me!

Tablet

I got the drawing tablet I ordered, but it came without a pen. It didn't say it didn't have the pen in the listing...but then again it didn't say it did either.

But I was talking to a friend of mine and she was like HEY LET ME SEND U MY OLD ONE and i'm like WHAAAA and she's like YEAH TOTALLY and i'm like

I'm home now. I'm working on spraying down the basement where it was flooded for a long time to avoid mildew.

3% raise at work

Review

Had my review at work today. I'm making $0.64/hour more now, hurray!! I've been working really hard. This will help a bit with my bills. This is actually my sixth year at the company so I think I'm doing pretty good.

Movie

Watched Raya and the Last Dragon with my mom today, it was a nice movie

Dinner

I had tuna melts for dinner. Definitely comfort food
